College Basketball best bets today

Every college basketball game on today's board with the signals behind it, strongest evidence first. Nothing here is called a lock: each signal says how well it has tested.

The short version

Nothing on this slate has a tested edge, since none of our signals has passed a pre-registered test. The most eye-catching items are unproven price checks: Eastern Washington at Stanford shows fanduel at +810, which is 5.7% better than the Pinnacle fair price of +761, and Robert Morris at Nevada shows fanduel at +720 against a fair +689. Both of those look much worse by our power method (-16.2% and -15.1%), so the two methods disagree and these are long shots to treat with caution. Arizona -4.5 at betus -110 is also an unproven price check, sitting 2.1% above the exchange fair price of -115. The rest is just description of the market. In UCLA at Arizona, 76% of $33,953 on Kalshi is on Arizona, yet the Kalshi price for UCLA moved from 20c to 34c, and Northern Kentucky moved from 39c to 50c against South Dakota. Santa Clara -13.5 against Towson slipped from 60c to 48c, and East Tennessee St fell from 13c to 4c at Arizona St. Fading the public (like the 72% on Over 147.5 in North Alabama at UC Davis) is an unproven idea we are still testing.

Wofford Terriers at Tennessee Volunteers

Tue, Nov 3, 6:00 PM ET · Tennessee -27.5, total 153

Tennessee's transfer-heavy roster should control the glass and the paint, while Wofford needs a hot night from three to stay close. Wofford's high-volume perimeter attack against a Tennessee defense Barnes said lacked intensity early in practice. No line posted yet. Last season's final adjusted net ratings: Tennessee 14th, Wofford 242nd of 365.

No signals on this game yet.

Warren Wilson at North Carolina A&T

Tue, Nov 3, 7:00 PM ET

North Carolina A&T should control a home opener against a non-Division I visitor; the real question is how its newcomers fit together. Watch A&T's attacks downhill: last season it ranked 3rd nationally in free throw rate, drawing fouls at an elite clip. No spread or total is posted yet; A&T's last-season pace of 69.2 possessions per 40 minutes hints at the game's shape.

No signals on this game yet.

Last season's final adjusted net ratings had Tech 55th and Coppin State 363rd of 365.

No signals on this game yet.

Holy Cross at Rhode Island

Tue, Nov 3, 7:00 PM ET

Expect a slow, grinding opener where Rhode Island's defense, not its shaky shooting, builds the margin through steals and rim protection. Rhode Island's pressure against Holy Cross's ball handlers: last season the Rams' forced turnover rate ranked 14th nationally. No spread or total is posted yet. Both teams played slowly last season, Rhode Island at 66 possessions per 40 minutes.

Fort Wayne Mastodons at Duquesne Dukes

Tue, Nov 3, 7:00 PM ET · Duquesne -11, total 152.5

Last season's adjusted net ratings had Duquesne 127th and Purdue Fort Wayne 258th.

No signals on this game yet.

Hampton Pirates at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Tue, Nov 3, 7:00 PM ET · Georgia Tech -14, total 149

No signals on this game yet.

Manhattan Jaspers at Kentucky Wildcats

Tue, Nov 3, 7:00 PM ET · Kentucky -31.5, total 158

Kentucky's bigger, deeper transfer haul should control the glass and the arc against a Manhattan roster returning almost nothing from last season. Milan Momcilovic, a 48.4% three-point shooter last season, against a Manhattan defense that ranked 345th in opponent three-point percentage. No spread or total is posted yet; last season's adjusted net ratings, 29th for Kentucky and 330th for Manhattan, frame the gap.

No signals on this game yet.

Incarnate Word at Tulsa

Tue, Nov 3, 7:30 PM ET

Tulsa should control this on its home floor, getting to the line and spacing the Cardinals out while learning who its new scorers are. Ade Popoola's perimeter shooting against a UIW defense that ranked 282nd in efficiency last season. No spread or total has been posted. Last season's final adjusted net ratings had Tulsa 53rd and UIW 264th.

Sam Houston St Bearkats at Alabama Crimson Tide

Tue, Nov 3, 7:30 PM ET · Alabama -27.5, total 168

Alabama should push the pace and fire threes; Sam Houston's best route is extra possessions off the offensive glass. Sam Houston's offensive rebounding against Alabama's remade frontcourt, led by Boise State transfer Drew Fielder and a cleared Collins Onyejiaka. No line is posted yet. Last season's adjusted net ratings frame the gap: Alabama 12th of 365, Sam Houston 112th.

No signals on this game yet.

Drexel Dragons at Virginia Cavaliers

Tue, Nov 3, 7:30 PM ET · Virginia -27.5, total 142.5

Virginia should own the glass and the scoreboard; the margin hinges on whether Drexel's perimeter defense, 12th in opponent three-point percentage last season, carries over. Virginia's shooters, led by Sam Lewis, face a Drexel defense that allowed among the most three-point attempts in Division I last season but made them hard ones. No line has been posted. Last season's adjusted net ratings put Virginia 18th and Drexel 217th of 365.

No signals on this game yet.

Louisiana Christian at Houston Christian

Tue, Nov 3, 8:00 PM ET

Houston Christian should control this one at Sharp Gymnasium, with the margin likely set by its turnovers. Watch Houston Christian's ball security: last season's 19.1 turnover rate ranked 321st, a habit that can keep weaker opponents close. No spread or total has been posted; Houston Christian played slow last season, ranking 306th in pace, which matters for any total.

No signals on this game yet.

Lincoln (MO) at Missouri State

Tue, Nov 3, 8:00 PM ET

Missouri State should control a tuneup against Division II Lincoln, with the real interest in how its new rotation takes shape. Watch the Bears at the foul line: last season they drew free throws at an elite rate but made them poorly. No spread or total has been posted. Last season's 67.7% free throw shooting is the number most likely to linger.

No signals on this game yet.

Cleveland St Vikings at Missouri Tigers

Last season's adjusted net ratings, 57th for Missouri and 323rd for Cleveland State, frame the gap.

No signals on this game yet.

South Dakota St Jackrabbits at Kansas St Wildcats

Tue, Nov 3, 8:00 PM ET · Kansas State -10, total 158.5

Expect K-State to push tempo at home while South Dakota State tries to slow it, end possessions on the glass and lean on Sayler. K-State's offensive glass test: the Wildcats' weak rebounding last season against a Jackrabbits defense that ranked 7th in defensive rebound rate. No spread or total is posted yet; last season's adjusted net ratings had K-State 99th and South Dakota State 206th.

  • Line move: South Dakota St Jackrabbits (moneyline): Kalshi price for South Dakota St Jackrabbits moved from 7c to 14c (Descriptive; description)

Western New Mexico at New Mexico State

Tue, Nov 3, 8:30 PM ET

New Mexico State should be a heavy home favorite against a Division II opponent before its trip to Gonzaga. No spread or total has posted yet; last season's pace, 291st of 365, points to a low possession count.

No signals on this game yet.

Lewis & Clark at Portland State

Tue, Nov 3, 10:00 PM ET

Portland State should control a Division III visitor at home; the open question is which newcomers seize roles. Watch Koren Johnson, a preseason all-conference pick whose Ole Miss line last season gave little hint of a featured role. No spread or total has been posted; the number that matters is Portland State's 3.7% of returning minutes.

No signals on this game yet.

North Florida at California Baptist

Tue, Nov 3, 10:00 PM ET

Last season's profiles favor Cal Baptist controlling a slower game, but both sidelines and rosters have changed, so treat those numbers loosely. North Florida's three-heavy attack against a Lancers defense that held opponents to 29.6% from deep last season, fifth nationally. No line yet. Cal Baptist allowed 67.6 points per game last season (35th), the number most likely to shape any total.

  • Line move: North Florida (moneyline): Kalshi price for North Florida moved from 28c to 21c (Descriptive; description)

Chapman at UC Irvine

Tue, Nov 3, 10:00 PM ET

No spread or total had been posted as of Oct. 21; Irvine played at 71.2 possessions per 40 minutes last season, 34th in Division I.

No signals on this game yet.

CSU Fullerton Titans at San Diego St Aztecs

Tue, Nov 3, 10:00 PM ET · San Diego State -16, total 154.5

Fullerton pushes the tempo; SDSU's rim protection and inside scoring should take over as the game settles. SDSU's interior offense against a Fullerton defense that ranked 340th in opponent two-point percentage last season. No line posted yet. Fullerton's 75.5 possessions per 40 minutes last season, 2nd nationally, will shape the total.

No signals on this game yet.

Northern Arizona Lumberjacks at UNLV Rebels

Tue, Nov 3, 10:00 PM ET · UNLV -21, total 148.5

UNLV opens at home with more size and last season's far stronger profile; Northern Arizona's returning guards must shoot well to keep it close. Northern Arizona's three-point shooting against UNLV's rim protection, which ranked 24th nationally in block rate last season. No spread or total is posted yet. Last season's adjusted net ratings had UNLV 104th and Northern Arizona 312th.

No signals on this game yet.

Webster at Southeast Missouri State

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

Southeast Missouri State should control a game whose main value is minutes for a roster built mostly from transfers. Watch Landren Blocker and Marqueas Bell, the two guards the OVC named Players to Watch, setting the tone for the newcomers. No line was posted as of Oct. 17; last season the Redhawks shot 30.3% from three, 343rd nationally.

No signals on this game yet.

Grace University at Utah Tech

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

Utah Tech should control a home game against a non-Division I visitor, with minutes spread across a roster still learning itself. Ethan Potter inside: last season's most efficient returning scorer, surrounded by guards who struggled to shoot. No spread or total is posted yet; only 21.9% of last season's minutes return, so last season's numbers are a weak guide.

No signals on this game yet.

Bob Jones at Furman

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

Furman should control this from the opening tip. The real interest is in rotations, newcomers and shot selection, not the final margin. Watch Furman's perimeter shooting. Last season the Paladins launched threes at the 31st-highest rate but made just 32.8%. No spread or total has been posted. Furman's deliberate pace last season, 240th of 365, is the best guide to the game's shape.

No signals on this game yet.

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

Cal's transfer-heavy guards try to settle into a half-court rhythm while Radford pushes pace, fires threes and gambles for steals. Last season's final adjusted net ratings had Cal 73rd and Radford 259th.

No signals on this game yet.

SE Louisiana at Auburn

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

Auburn's edges on the glass and at the line should decide this, unless SE Louisiana's poor shooting from last season has improved. Thomas Dowd, Bukky Oboye and Auburn's new bigs against the Lions' defensive rebounding, after Florida State outmuscled them. No line is posted yet; last season's final adjusted net ratings put Auburn 35th and SE Louisiana 283rd.

No signals on this game yet.

Fairleigh Dickinson at Butler

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

Butler should try to attack the paint and draw fouls while FDU slows the pace and hunts threes. Last season's profiles favor the Bulldogs, with caveats. Watch FDU's defensive rebounding, 28th nationally last season, against a Butler offense that ranked 66th on the offensive glass. No spread or total is posted yet. FDU's pace, 336th of 365 last season, points toward a low-possession game.

Saint Mary's played at the second-slowest pace in Division I last season, a key number for any total.

No signals on this game yet.

West Coast Baptist at Boise State

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

Boise State should control a first-ever meeting with an NAIA-level opponent; the interest lies in rotations, not the result. Watch the Broncos' backcourt without Ty Rodgers and Lamar Washington, and who absorbs their minutes.

No signals on this game yet.

Central College at Drake

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

Drake's returning guards open the season against a Central program we hold no Division I data for. Watch Jalen Quinn's shot volume next to newcomer Jon Carroll; how they share the ball shapes Drake's season. No spread or total has posted. Drake's 45.7% three-point attempt rate last season is the style number to watch.

No signals on this game yet.

Virginia-Lynchburg at Morgan State

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

Morgan State should control this at Hill Field House, as it did in routs of VUL in 2022 and 2023. Watch how Morgan State's newcomers share the ball with returners Wade and Edwards, both back from injury-shortened seasons. No line was posted as of our feed. The last two meetings ended 120-50 and 123-59, both Morgan State wins.

No signals on this game yet.

Northern Kentucky at South Dakota

Wed, Nov 4, 12:00 AM ET

  • Line move: Northern Kentucky (moneyline): Kalshi price for Northern Kentucky moved from 39c to 48c (Descriptive; description)

Framingham State at Dartmouth

Wed, Nov 4, 6:30 PM ET

Dartmouth should control a Division III opponent at home, with the game shaped by how its new guards handle the ball. Watch first-years CJ Aldrich III and Acen Jimenez running the point, the thinnest spot on the returning roster. No line is posted yet; last season Dartmouth took 49.1% of its shots from three, 21st-most in Division I.

No signals on this game yet.

Concordia-Chicago at SIU Edwardsville

Wed, Nov 4, 7:00 PM ET

SIUE should control this mismatch against a Division III visitor, with the defense setting the terms early. Watch SIUE's half-court offense. Last season it ranked 269th in efficiency, the weak link on a 19-13 team. No spread or total has been posted. Last season SIUE played at 66.1 possessions per 40 minutes, 267th nationally.

No signals on this game yet.

Salish Kootenai at Montana

Wed, Nov 4, 7:00 PM ET

Montana should control this from the start, as it did in last season's 102-46 win over Salish Kootenai. Montana's ball security against an unfamiliar opponent: the Grizzlies ranked 345th in turnover rate last season. No spread or total has been posted; last December's 102-46 result is the only scoring reference between these teams.

No signals on this game yet.

Erskine at UNC Asheville

Wed, Nov 4, 7:00 PM ET

UNC Asheville should control a home opener against Erskine; the interest is in rotations and new pieces, not the outcome. Watch the free-throw line: last season the Bulldogs drew fouls at a top-65 rate but shot only 68.7% once there. No spread or total posted yet; last season UNC Asheville played at 66.5 possessions per 40 minutes, 240th nationally.

No signals on this game yet.

Longwood at Saint Joseph's

Wed, Nov 4, 7:00 PM ET

Saint Joseph's experience and half-court defense should control the game unless Longwood's pressure turns it into a scramble. Derek Simpson and the Hawks' ball-handlers against a Longwood defense that ranked 13th in forced turnover rate last season. No spread or total is posted yet; the gap in returning minutes, 77.1% to 26.7%, is the number most likely to shape it.

  • Line move: Longwood (moneyline): Kalshi price for Longwood moved from 18c to 24c (Descriptive; description)

Maryland Eastern Shore at High Point

Wed, Nov 4, 7:00 PM ET

High Point likely speeds it up, forces live-ball turnovers and pulls away, unless its rebuilt roster needs time to connect. UMES guards against High Point's pressure: last season's worst turnover rate in Division I against a top-10 forced-turnover defense. No spread or total is posted yet. High Point returns 31.7% of last season's minutes, so last season's gap is hard to price.

No signals on this game yet.

Christendom at App State

Wed, Nov 4, 7:00 PM ET

App State should control the game with its defense and a deliberate pace; the margin depends on how many of its threes fall. Watch App State at the line: last season it shot 64.2% on free throws, 363rd of 365. No spread or total is posted yet; last season's pace of 64.3 possessions, 330th, should shape any total.

No signals on this game yet.

Regent at Old Dominion

Wed, Nov 4, 7:00 PM ET

Watch Adante' Holiman, the Arizona State transfer named Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team, and how quickly the new guards share the ball. No spread or total has been posted. Last season the Monarchs played at 70.2 possessions per 40 minutes, 64th fastest nationally.

No signals on this game yet.

Champion Christian at UL Monroe

Wed, Nov 4, 7:30 PM ET

UL Monroe should control a home game against a likely non-Division I visitor, but nobody yet knows how this new roster plays together. Watch how Cross's six transfers and seven junior college recruits share the ball and minutes in their second game as a group. No spread or total is posted yet; last season's 4-28 team returns only Cam Campbell, so its numbers say little about this one.

No signals on this game yet.

Blue Mountain at Tennessee Tech

Wed, Nov 4, 7:30 PM ET

Tennessee Tech should control a home date against a non-Division I visitor; the real interest is how Anderson's rebuilt program looks. Watch Tennessee Tech's ball security: last season it turned the ball over on 19.2% of possessions, 328th of 365. No spread or total has been posted. Last season's 19.2% turnover rate is the number that bears most on any margin.

No signals on this game yet.

Cal State Northridge at Wichita State

Wed, Nov 4, 8:00 PM ET

Wichita State wants a slow, physical game built on second chances; Cal State Northridge wants a track meet. Whoever sets the tempo likely controls it. Wichita State's offensive rebounding, 5th nationally last season, against a Northridge defensive glass that ranked 34th. No spread or total has been posted yet. Last season's pace gap, 74.9 possessions against 65.7, is the first thing to weigh when one appears.

No signals on this game yet.

Randolph College at Norfolk State

Wed, Nov 4, 8:00 PM ET

Norfolk State should control a Division III visitor at Echols Hall, with the result mattering less than how its newcomers fit. Watch Norfolk State's pressure: last season it forced turnovers at the 49th-highest rate in Division I. No spread or total is posted yet; last season Norfolk State played at 69.2 possessions per 40 minutes, 98th nationally.

No signals on this game yet.

Saint Mary of the Woods College at Southern Indiana

Wed, Nov 4, 8:00 PM ET

Southern Indiana should control a slow game at home; the real question is whether its new transfers look like an offense. Watch USI's guards, led by newcomer Ari Gooch, against a Saint Mary-of-the-Woods team in its second year under Maverick Harris. No line is posted yet. USI played at a pace ranked 336th last season, which points toward a low total.

No signals on this game yet.

Queens University at Loyola Marymount

Wed, Nov 4, 10:00 PM ET

Expect a game decided by whether Queens' efficient shooting survives the road; its defense was too porous last season to win a grind. Watch Queens' two-point finishing against an LMU defense that held opponents to 47.1% inside the arc last season, 31st nationally. No spread or total has been posted. Queens played at 70.2 possessions per 40 minutes last season, 64th nationally, the pace marker to watch.
