Azamat Murzakanov vs Dominick Reyes prediction: Azamat Murzakanov's patient power tests Dominick Reyes's battered chin

Two 36-year-old southpaws close the prelims in Abu Dhabi, and the fight likely turns on whether Reyes's length can keep him away from the one shot Murzakanov is always waiting to throw.

The moneyline
Azamat Murzakanov-205 (64.5% implied)
Dominick Reyes+170 (35.5% implied)

Median of US sportsbooks; implied chances have the books' margin removed. Updated Oct 24, 12:00 PM ET.

Quick take
  • Expect a cautious southpaw standoff at range, with Murzakanov reading and waiting while Reyes works behind his longer reach and higher volume.
  • Watch the moment Murzakanov commits: he averages 1.42 knockdowns per 15 minutes, and Reyes has lost four UFC fights by knockout.
  • Murzakanov is -205 (64.6%), down from -220 as money moved toward Reyes at +171; his arm and 206-pound weigh-in remain open questions.

Power that waits its turn

Murzakanov is 6-1 in the UFC and 16-1 as a pro, and five of those six UFC wins came by knockout. He averages 1.42 knockdowns per 15 minutes. That rate rests on only 63.3 UFC minutes, but it matches the tape. He doesn't throw much, spends long stretches reading an opponent, and then delivers fight-ending offense out of nowhere. Against Aleksandar Rakic last October, he needed just 3 significant strikes.

That is the worst possible profile for Reyes to face. Four of his five UFC losses came by KO/TKO, the latest a first-round stoppage by current champion Carlos Ulberg in September 2025. After his split-decision win over Johnny Walker in April, Reyes said he chose not to chase Walker because he had suffered a concussion less than six months earlier.

Reyes needs the outside lane

The former two-time title challenger has the frame to keep this fight long. Reyes carries a 77-inch reach to Murzakanov's 71.5 and stands well over the shorter Russian. Both fight southpaw, so the lead hands will fight over the same lane all night.

Reyes also brings more output. He lands 4.99 significant strikes a minute to Murzakanov's 4.47, and he invests in the legs far more than his opponent does. Chopping the lead leg of a shorter southpaw from outside and never staying in the pocket is the underdog's cleanest route. The risk is defensive. Murzakanov makes 56% of strikes miss, while Reyes makes only 50% miss, and a fighter who gets hit that often can't afford to trade with a one-shot puncher.

The arm, the scale and the third round

Murzakanov's only loss came in April, when a Paulo Costa kick hurt his left arm before a head kick finished him in the third round. An arm injury has followed him into this camp, with no word on how serious it is, and one injury listing for him is undated and unclear. Fight-week coverage still treats the bout as on.

The scale added another wrinkle. Murzakanov weighed in at 206 pounds, a pound over the 205-pound limit, while Reyes came in at 205. No fine or catchweight has been reported, and coverage of the card names a different fighter as its only miss, so the status of that extra pound is unsettled. Questions about Murzakanov's cardio also make a late fight worth watching. The Costa loss came after the first two rounds.

Where the price sits

Murzakanov is a -205 favorite, a 64.6% chance with the books' margin removed, with Reyes at +171. Our feed first saw Murzakanov at -220, so the early movement has gone toward Reyes. The case for the favorite is the matchup of his power against Reyes's knockout losses. The case for the drift is the arm, the weigh-in and a fighter coming off the first stoppage loss of his career.

The fighters
