Schreiner vs Lamar prediction: Jordan Fee's rebuilt Lamar debuts against Division III Schreiner

Lamar's first look at a roster signed almost entirely this spring comes against a Division III visitor, so the real story is Fee's new team, not the scoreboard.

Quick take
  • Lamar should control a home tune-up against Division III Schreiner; the useful information is how Fee's newly assembled rotation fits together.
  • Watch Lamar's new guards, including FAU transfer Niccolo Moretti, running Fee's offense against a visitor with no Division I data.
  • No spread or total has been posted; last season's pace of 66.3 possessions (250th) says little about a roster that was almost entirely replaced.

A program starting over

Lamar hired Jordan Fee on March 14, the 13th head coach in program history, after he served as associate head coach at Florida Atlantic. His reputation rests on a turnaround: he took Gannon from three wins the year before he arrived to 32.

He needs a version of that in Beaumont. Lamar did not bring back its 2025-26 team, so Fee's staff signed a full roster in a short window. The newcomers include Matt Reed (Iona/Tulsa), Mike Collins (Louisiana-Lafayette), Lamont Hartfield (Florida SW State), MJ Wardlow (Trinity Valley) and Caden Hinker. Guard Niccolo Moretti, who played two seasons at FAU, also committed to Lamar. One returner, Sanders, is back.

Why last season barely counts

Lamar went 12-19 last season and 7-15 in the Southland. Its final adjusted net efficiency (points per 100 possessions, adjusted for opponents) was -5.7, which ranked 231st of 365.

That team's strength was defence and rebounding. It ranked 79th in raw defensive efficiency and 26th in block rate, and it grabbed 36.0% of its own misses, 35th nationally. The offence was the problem: an effective field goal percentage (threes count 1.5 times) of 48.6 ranked 319th.

Those players are gone, so treat these numbers as the old program's identity, not a forecast of Fee's.

Schreiner and the setting

Schreiner is a Division III program coached by Kyle McLeroy, who was hired in July 2025 after working on the UT Dallas staff. The Mountaineers can score at their level. They put up a program-record 120 points against Howard Payne in an earlier game.

This is a regular-season home game at the Montagne Center, tipping at 7:00 PM ET on Monday, Nov. 2. No injury or availability news has surfaced for either team. For Lamar, the night is about rotations, chemistry and a first look at what Fee has built.
