Murtazali Magomedov has never needed the judges. He is 11-0 as a pro, with five wins by knockout and six by submission. He earned his UFC contract on the Contender Series with a knockout of Brahyam Zurcher in less than two minutes, and then he went faster in his UFC debut.

In June he submitted Melsik Baghdasaryan in 77 seconds. He landed one of two takedown attempts, took the back and finished with a twister, a submission you rarely see at any level. The highlight was real. So is the problem it leaves for anyone trying to handicap him: his UFC stats cover just 1.3 minutes, so his per-minute rates mean very little. Nobody has seen him take a clean shot on the feet, defend a takedown or walk back to his corner after five hard minutes in the Octagon. He is a fighter who welcomes action, and that approach has worked every time so far.

Delano's 15-minute case

Jose Delano brings what Magomedov lacks: a full UFC fight on tape. The Brazilian is 17-3 as a pro and 1-0 in the UFC after his April decision over Robert Ruchala, a switch-stance wrestler. Delano swept the cards, with one judge scoring it 30-26.

He won it on volume. Delano landed 107 significant strikes and absorbed 67, a pace of 7.13 landed per minute. The body work stood out: 32% of his landed strikes went to the midsection, with double-digit body strikes in every round. Ruchala's game was wrestling, and Delano stopped every takedown attempt he faced, so his takedown defense reads 100%. One fight is a thin record, but it is the right kind of test for this matchup.

The concern shows up in his pro record. Delano has lost once by knockout and once by submission. He also absorbed 4.47 strikes a minute against Ruchala, so he gets hit while he works. Against a fighter whose wins have all been finishes, one scramble going wrong could undo a whole fight's worth of good work.

A market split down the middle

Delano is the slimmest of favorites at -112.5, with Magomedov at -108.5. That is the median across eight US books, and with the margin removed it gives Delano a 50.4% chance. The first price our feed recorded had Delano at -133 and Magomedov at +114, so the money has moved toward the unbeaten fighter.

The move makes sense if you trust the finishing record. Magomedov has finished his only UFC fight in the first round. Delano, meanwhile, has already won a three-round fight there, and the longer this goes, the more his output and body attack matter. The question for bettors is whether a 77-second sample deserves to wipe out the edge that 15 minutes of tape gave Delano.
