Binghamton vs Misericordia prediction: Binghamton's rebuilt backcourt takes a Division III detour to Misericordia
Picked higher than ever in the America East, Binghamton gets a fourth-game test of how its new pieces fit around Jeremiah Quigley, on a Division III floor that has seen plenty of winning.
- Quigley's playmaking and a knack for drawing fouls are Binghamton's clearest carry-overs, and the margin should show how the new rotation has settled.
- Quigley running the offense against a Misericordia team whose current roster we cannot confirm.
- No spread or total has been posted; Binghamton's last-season adjusted net efficiency ranked 360th of 365, so this roster is still unproven.
A new team in old colors
Binghamton went 8-23 last season and finished 4-12 in America East. Little of that team remains. Players on this season's roster logged only 36.6% of last season's minutes, so last season's numbers are a weak guide here. The league still picked the Bearcats third of nine in the preseason poll, their highest predicted finish ever, under sixth-year coach Levell Sanders.
The returning core starts with Jeremiah Quigley, who averaged 14.5 points and 6.4 assists while playing 37.1 minutes a night last season. Demetrius Lilley, the other returning starter, put up 14.6 points and 9.4 rebounds in 11 games. KiJan Robinson arrives from New Hampshire, where he scored 10.7 per game last season. The roster also lists Joul Karram, a 6-foot-11 center who is new to the program.
Where the points come from
Last season's Bearcats lived at the free-throw line. Their free throw rate (free-throw attempts per field-goal attempt) ranked 32nd nationally. They got almost nothing off the offensive glass, where their offensive rebound rate ranked 361st. Shooting is the bigger question. Jackson Benigni, who hit 40.4% from three, is gone. Jake Blackburn, who made 39.5% of his threes in a bench role last season, may need a larger share of the shots.
The setting and the host
This is scheduled as Binghamton's fourth game, after an opener at Northwestern, a trip to Saint Peter's and a home date with Rider. The Anderson Center belongs to a steady Division III program. Will Chandler enters his 12th season at Misericordia with a 142-123 record and five straight MAC Freedom tournament trips, including a runner-up finish last season. The Cougars were picked second in the MAC Freedom preseason poll with 51 points.
We hold no Division I data on Misericordia, and its newest available roster is from last season. Its last regular-season game was an 86-70 loss to DeSales in February. No injuries have been reported for either team.

|---|---|---|
| Free throw rate rank, last season | 32nd | Getting to the line was the Bearcats' best offensive habit last season. |
| Offensive rebound rank, last season | 361st | Binghamton rarely produced second chances, which a 6-foot-11 newcomer could change. |
