Le Moyne vs Creighton prediction: Creighton's three-point barrage opens Alan Huss era against Le Moyne
A Bluejays roster that brings back most of last season's minutes gets an early chance to fire away at a Le Moyne defense that struggled to guard the arc.
- Creighton should control this with volume from deep, while Le Moyne needs free throws and stops inside to stay close.
- Creighton's shooters, led by Austin Swartz, against a Le Moyne defense that allowed 35.8% from three last season (316th).
- No line is posted yet; last season's final adjusted ratings had Creighton 77th and Le Moyne 296th in net efficiency.
New coach, familiar faces
Alan Huss inherits a program, not a rebuild. The former Bluejays player spent six seasons on Greg McDermott's staff before taking over when McDermott retired in March, and he gets a roster that returns 79.0% of last season's minutes. That makes last season's numbers a more useful guide than usual for an early-November game.
Those numbers were mixed. Creighton went 16-18 in 2025-26, yet finished with an adjusted net efficiency of 11.2 (points per 100 possessions better than opponents, adjusted for schedule), 77th nationally. The biggest loss is guard Josh Dix, who scored 13.2 points a game. Big East coaches picked Creighton 7th this season.
The Bluejays are scheduled to open against Kansas City on Nov. 2, so Le Moyne would be the second regular-season game of the Huss era. The Bluejays open against Kansas City on Nov. 2, so they get three days between games before facing Le Moyne, a first-ever meeting. Tip time hasn't been confirmed by the school.
Threes against a soft perimeter
Creighton's offense lives behind the arc. Last season 48.2% of its field goal attempts were threes, 25th in the country. Le Moyne's defense is the wrong kind of opponent for that: it allowed 35.8% from three, 316th nationally.
Swartz is the volume shooter who returns, having hit 38.3% on 167 attempts. Nik Graves is the playmaker at 4.4 assists a game, though his own shot was cold at 28.4% from deep.
The catch is inside. Le Moyne held opponents to 45.9% on two-pointers last season, 19th in the nation, which only pushes Creighton further toward the shots it already prefers.
Le Moyne's path runs through the line
The Dolphins' best offensive weapon last season was getting fouled. Their free throw rate (free throw attempts per field goal attempt) was 38.5%, 82nd nationally. Creighton's defense is built to take that away: its opponent free throw rate of 24.8% ranked 6th, and it allowed few threes as well.
Le Moyne also coughed it up on 19.0% of its possessions, 320th. Creighton isn't positioned to cash in, though. Its defense forced turnovers on just 13.8% of possessions, 347th, so the Dolphins may get away with sloppiness that a pressing team would punish.
Le Moyne's last-season adjusted net efficiency of -12.1 ranked 296th, and its 15-17 record came against a far softer schedule than the Big East.
Who's available for Creighton
Forward Jackson McAndrew has a foot issue. On Oct. 12 Huss said he had been "a little nicked up" and on a daily practice minute restriction, with the goal of getting him fully healthy in about a month. As of Oct. 14 he had sat out a Wednesday practice and was limited that Friday. His status for Nov. 5 is unknown.
Fredrick King and Brody Robinson are seeking a fifth year of eligibility, and Huss described the program as being in "wait and see mode." Both had mostly worked with the scout team as of Oct. 14. Creighton's exhibition at Iowa State today offers the first look at the rotation.
