Ode' Osbourne vs Cody Durden prediction: Cody Durden must drag Ode' Osbourne down before the punches land

A wrestler who keeps losing the minutes he controls faces a long-armed southpaw whose UFC wins come fast and at range.

Cody Durden-118 (52% implied)

Quick take
  • Durden chases takedowns early and often; Osbourne must punish entries at range before control time piles up over three rounds.
  • Watch Durden's level changes. Against Jose Ochoa he got caught with a right hand, ducked into a takedown and was finished.
  • Durden is a slight -115 favorite after first showing at +106; Osbourne stopping 66% of takedown attempts bears on it most.

The takedown is the fight

Two southpaw flyweights who have both slipped well below .500 in the UFC, Osbourne at 5-8 and Durden at 7-9-1, share an Octagon on Saturday with very different ideas of where it should happen. Durden wants the mat. He averages 3.82 takedowns per 15 minutes and lands 48% of his attempts, and he spends 37% of his fight time in control.

Osbourne stops 66% of takedown attempts, a respectable wall but not a locked door. He has rarely needed to defend a wrestler this committed. His own game lives at range: 83% of his significant strikes land at distance, and he spends just 7% of fight time in control. If Durden gets to his hips, Osbourne has little going the other way.

There is a shared opponent worth noting. Jafel Filho choked Osbourne out in the first round in 2024. Durden beat Filho in April by going 5 for 5 on takedowns and riding him for 314 seconds.

Control without damage

Durden's problem is what happens after the takedown. Against Nyamjargal Tumendemberel in March he logged 290 seconds of control and still lost 27-30 on two cards. He landed just 8 significant strikes in that fight and absorbed 25.

The scrambles have been worse. Five of Durden's nine UFC losses came by submission, including an anaconda choke against Allan Nascimento and a rear-naked choke against Alessandro Costa in July. Osbourne is not the man to cash that in, though. He averages 0.28 submission attempts per 15 minutes and has no submission wins in the UFC.

Where Osbourne finishes

Osbourne's path is the entry. He produces 0.56 knockdowns per 15 minutes, and all three of his UFC knockout wins ended inside two rounds, including a 26-second finish of Jerome Rivera. His most recent win was a punch at distance that stopped Luis Gurule in April 2025. He stands 5'7" with a 73-inch reach against Durden's 67, so the long left hand is there for a fighter who keeps changing levels.

That has burned Durden before. Against Ochoa he got blasted with a right hand, ducked into a takedown attempt and left his neck exposed; the fight ended 11 seconds into the second round.

Osbourne carries his own risk. He has been stopped five times in the UFC, three by submission, and his fights average 8.2 minutes.

A rebooking with some edge

This pairing was first set for UFC 329 in July before Osbourne withdrew with an undisclosed injury. Durden responded on X that Osbourne "has officially went running." Osbourne returns after 252 days away; Durden has fought three times this year. Osbourne's February decision loss to Alibi Idiris was later overturned to a no contest after Idiris tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide, but he has not won since the Gurule knockout. Both fighters made weight on Friday.

The market leans Durden at -115 against Osbourne at -105, a no-vig split of 51.1% to 48.9%. That is a reversal: when our feed first saw the fight, Osbourne was the -126 favorite and Durden sat at +106.
