Julian Erosa vs JeongYeong Lee prediction: Julian Erosa's farewell fight rests on the chin that keeps betraying him
Erosa retires after Halloween night no matter what, and his volume and guillotine have to win the fight before Lee's right hand ends it.
| Julian Erosa | +122 (43% implied) |
|---|---|
| JeongYeong Lee | -148 (57% implied) |
- Erosa pushes pace and hunts the clinch and the neck; Lee waits on counters. A fast finish either way is likelier than a decision.
- Watch Erosa's entries against the cage. Lee stops 74% of takedowns, and Erosa got punished trading at range his last time out.
- Erosa has moved from +174 to +126 and Lee from -200 to -150, with Lee's 539-day layoff the number most worth weighing.
One last Halloween in Vegas
Julian Erosa has told everyone this is it. The 37-year-old southpaw retires after Saturday night regardless of result, heading home to Washington to help run his mother's business. He walks out 9-9 in the UFC, a fitting ledger for a fighter who built a reputation as one of featherweight's most reliably exciting fighters.
His opponent needs this nearly as badly. JeongYeong Lee won the first season of Road to UFC and is 11-3 as a pro, but he has dropped his last two. So has Erosa, who needs a win to avoid losing three straight for the first time since 2019. Both made the 145.5-pound limit Friday.
Volume against patience
Erosa fights at a sprint. He lands 6.06 significant strikes a minute, nearly double Lee's 3.17. The catch is that Erosa gives almost all of it back: he absorbs 6.23 a minute, so his fights become firefights by design.
Lee is measured rather than busy, and that has cost him. Against Daniel Santos in May 2025 he was outlanded 90 to 68 and lost every round on all three cards. His rates come from only four UFC fights, but the pattern of being out-worked is consistent. If Erosa keeps his hands busy, the scorecards lean his way.
Whose chin breaks first
Here is the problem with Erosa trading. Seven of his nine UFC losses came by knockout, including a first-round stoppage by Lerryan Douglas in March, finished by punches at distance at 3:33. At this stage, every clean exchange is a gamble.
Lee carries his own scar. Hyder Amil flattened him in 1:05 in July 2024, landing 42 significant strikes to Lee's 4. Neither man has shown he can absorb sustained punishment, which is why this fight probably doesn't need the judges.
Where Erosa wants it
Erosa says he plans to lean on wrestling and grappling against the cage instead of living in exchanges, though he admitted this week he might just stand and trade. The smarter version is the grappling. His last two submission wins were both guillotines from guard, and he holds 14 submission wins as a pro without a submission loss.
Getting there is the hard part. Erosa landed just 3 of 10 takedowns against Melquizael Costa in his last decision. Expect him to use the clinch and front headlocks off Lee's level changes rather than shooting from open space.
Rust and the money
Lee has not fought in 539 days. He was booked against Gaston Bolaños earlier this year but withdrew, so this is a long layoff. Erosa returns after roughly seven months.
The market has noticed. Erosa has moved from +174 when first quoted to +126, with Lee shortening from -200 to -150. Lee still holds a 57.6% no-vig chance in the market.
