Livingstone vs Austin Peay prediction: Rashaud Marshall anchors a rebuilt Austin Peay against Division II Livingstone

With most of last season's minutes gone, the real question in Clarksville is how fast Corey Gipson's record freshman class fits around two proven returners.

Quick take
  • Austin Peay should control a Division II visitor, so watch rotations, freshman minutes and how the new backcourt shares the ball.
  • Rashaud Marshall's interior scoring is the matchup to watch.
  • No spread or total has been posted; Austin Peay returns just 29.2% of last season's minutes, so last season's numbers are a weak guide.

A title team, mostly new

Austin Peay won the 2026 ASUN regular-season title, its first since 2008, on the way to a 22-9 record. Corey Gipson, now in his fourth season, signed an extension through 2029-30 over the offseason and kept his staff together. The players around him changed far more.

The Governors return only 29.2% of last season's minutes. Collin Parker, who led the team at 17.6 points per game, is gone, and so are starting guard Tate McCubbin (now at Northern Iowa) and Anton Brookshire. In their place come two transfers and a record eight freshmen in what the program calls its highest-ranked class ever. Livingstone, a Division II program in the CIAA coached by James Stinson as of last season, gives that group a soft first look.

Marshall and Collins carry it

The two returners are the reason to expect continuity. Rashaud Marshall averaged 16.3 points and shot 65.6% from the field last season without attempting a three, and his offensive rating of 135.3 points per 100 possessions was the best on the roster. Zyree Collins ran the point, averaging 13.5 points and 4.3 assists, though his 31.3% three-point shooting leaves room to grow.

The newcomers fill in shooting. Shamarrie Hugie hit 39.3% from deep in a bench role at Marshall, and Chuck Love started seven games at Loyola Chicago. Last season's identity was pressure: Austin Peay ranked 14th in Division I in steal rate, and Collins averaged 2.1 steals. Expect that pressure to show up early.

What to watch

  • Game status: Livingstone's schedule lists this as an exhibition, while Austin Peay's schedule lists it as a regular-season game. That affects whether it counts in the record and whether a line ever appears.
  • Tip: 8:00 PM ET Tuesday, Nov. 10 (7:00 PM local in Clarksville).
  • Freshman minutes: no starters from the eight-man class have been named, so the rotation itself is news.
  • Tempo: last season's Governors played at 70.7 possessions per 40 minutes, 48th-fastest in the country. A lopsided game could push that higher.
