How much do I bet the other side to lock in profit?
Enter your open bet and the price on the other side to get the hedge stake that pays the same either way.
How it works
- Hedge stake = original stake × original decimal odds / hedge decimal odds.
- Both outcomes then return the same amount, so the result is locked in.
- A hedge is a new bet at the book’s margin, so it lowers expected value. It trades upside for certainty.
Questions
When does hedging make sense?
When the locked amount matters more to you than the expected value, for example the last leg of a big futures ticket.
Can I hedge part of it?
Yes. Any smaller stake keeps some upside and protects some of the downside. The full hedge here is the point where both outcomes pay the same.
